Hysteroscopic Procedure in IVF
Hysteroscopy is a Procedure used by surgeons to look inside your uterus to see and treat various abnormalities in the Uterus like fibroids, polyps, Uterine scars and endometrial ablation.
It may be diagnostics or therapeutics.
Why do I need a hysteroscopy?
- To detect causes of abnormal vaginal bleeding, heavy periods, post menopausal bleeding, pelvic pain..

How painful is a hysteroscopy?
You will be put under sedation or Anaesthesia.
You may not even know when Surgery is carried out. No abdominal pain or cramps.

Hysteroscopy can remove fibroids, and polyps covering your tubes, thereby opening blocked tubes.
Can I get pregnant naturally after a hysteroscopy?

How do I prepare for Hysteroscopy?
You may be asked not to eat and shave your pubic hair.
If the fibroid is to be removed, your doctor may prescribe drugs to shrink the fibroid.
How do you perform hysteroscopy?
You will be instructed to lie down on the couch face up.
During the Hysteroscopy:
- Your doctor will put a speculum inside your vagina after proper cleaning.
- A Lighted Telescope will then be inserted into your cervix and advanced towards the inside of the uterus.
- A sterile liquid will then be introduced into the Uterus to expand the cavity.
- The light and camera transmit the image on the screen. This allows your doctor not only to make a diagnosis but at the same time treat it.
- The working instruments will be introduced to perform surgery.
Recovery is fast and in most cases, it is a short and day Surgery. You can come from your office and go back to resume your duties immediately after the Procedure.
Is there any complication from hysteroscopy?
Rare complications of hysteroscopy are:
Infection
Bleeding
Effects of Anaesthesia
Fever
Pain
